Southern Green Gas (SGG) is now rapidly progressing commercialisation of its CO₂ capture technology after investment by Australia’s former Chief Scientist, Dr Alan Finkel AO.
In the beginning of November 2022 Southern Green Gas welcomed the news that we would receive a $1 million grant from the NSW Environmental Trust. The funds will be used to develop a solar powered e-kerosene production module, based on our existing foundational green technology, to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) which is in high demand. We send our gratitude to the Minister for Energy Matt Kean and the NSW Environmental Trust.
The team at SGG learnt early on that what was accepted as the textbook method for using metal organic frameworks (MOFs) to extract carbon dioxide out of the air just wasn’t going to work in reality. This lead to the development of new technology headed by Rohan Gillespie and Professor Deanna D’Alessandro.
The announced collaboration between Southern Green Gas and AspiraDAC brings further endorsement of global financial infrastructure company Stripe as its first customer. This sets the scene for an Australian first – production and deployment of solar-powered Direct Air Capture (DAC) modules by the end of 2022.
